The purpose of the seminar: This three day course is designed for those who are currently involved in clinical or epidemiological research. The focus of the course will be on aspects of study design and data analysis in epidemiology. The seminar will address preventive measures for non-communicable diseases.

Contents of the International seminar: The seminar builds upon knowledge of various preventive measures for non-communicable diseases and has group discussions on the same. The seminar will cover various topics in the field of epidemiology, which includes “Epidemic, Prevention & Control of diabetes in India, Epidemic of Cardiovascular Disease in India, National Prevention & Control Programme for Diabetes / CVD / Stroke, Statistics and ethical issues and Empowering the community etc.,It also includes in-depth workshops on National Prevention and Control programs on NCDs. At the end of the seminar we expect the participants not only improve their knowledge in the field of prevention of NCD, also to increase their expertise in designing studies and analyze data.

Course materials:  The presentations of all faculty members will be provided in CD.

Pre-requisites for delegates: Students of epidemiology and public health. Students involved in epidemiological studies, both clinical and field studies. Researchers involved in clinical trials and case control studies.

Registration fees for delegates:Rs. 500/-. Remit the fees as Demand Draft drawn in favour of “MADRAS DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION”, payable at Chennai.

Scholarship: A limited number of scholarships, which would support travel fare [Train -II class non-AC], accommodation and waiver of registration fees are available. Delegates will be selected based on “First Come, First Served" for the scholarship after careful scrutinize of their Curriculum Vitae and merits.
