- Designed and Developed tools and scripts to automate DBA activities like maintaining Sybase interfaces file, generating the interfaces file from Server database
- Provide support to the development team in adding users, logins, creation of databases, migration of databases, rolling out EBFs, upgrading SQL Servers.
- Monitor data servers errorlogs, check and correct DBCC errors daily. Monitor backup jobs, and restore databases and tables based on user requests.
- Design a physical database layout strategy for SQL Servers. Develop and implement Policies and Standards for the enterprise database group.
May 94 - Aug 96 (Fannie Mae, DC)
- Database Administrator for Fannie Mae, a finance mortgage company, based in Washington, D.C. in the Production Support Team.
- Managed and maintained over 90 servers. It was on OLTP environment which warranted for minimal or no downtime.
- Monitoring the SQL servers for performance related issues, handled user requests, granting/revoking permissions to use database objects, managing interfaces and custom password files, dumping transaction logs when logs were full, changed Server configurables to increase/lower memory, as per user requests and available memory on the matching.
- Setting up log monitors for the databases so user processes were not affected due to transaction logs becoming full. Monitoring the backup system, to see if nightly backup’s ran without any failures. Monitoring Dbcc’s on Servers and fixing them using the Dbcc fix_al commands. Provided 7x24 client support. Supporting a project for using segments to enhance performance, for a User group. Supporting Legato Networker Backup which provides support for distributed remote network backup of Unix systems. It supports jukeboxes, allowing automated “hands off” backup operations.
- Installing new SQL servers, add devices, add databases, set up backup and recovery systems for the new dataserver, verify configuration met Fannie Mae standards, push out interfaces and password files.
- Performed nightly sync between a Production Server and it’s contingency server.
- Problem resolution of Sybase bugs and errors using the Sybase Tech support.

- Work involved managing and maintaining 18 Unix servers, each having its own SYBASE SQL Server, with over 40 databases running on them. The system was an on-line distributed transaction processing system, requiring minimal downtown of the servers.
- Responsibilities included building new servers, creating and managing databases, security, adding and dropping users and objects on the databases, archiving data and recovery procedures.
- Monitoring errorlogs, backup logs, dbcc logs. Correcting errors from dbcc. Restoring databases and tables based on user requests.
- Management of servers also included problem handling, setting backup and recovery systems, installing new software and upgrades to the O/S, and interaction with the vendor.

Underwent training in POWERSOFT's POWER BUILDER, a 4GL used for application development. Developed front-end screens using POWERBUILDER for an Accounting System using features as Datawindows, Controls & Dropdown list boxes based on SQL.
Jul 91 - Apr 92 (Ace Marketing)
Was involved with the design and development of an Order Processing System. The system maintains records of orders received from clients and based upon the order information issues delivery instructions invoices. The system was eventually linked to an existing inventory control database. Responsibilities included development of triggers to enforce business rules for maintaining database integrity and cross field validation. Also wrote stored procedures for table modifications. APT was used for development of data entry screens.

Was involved with the design and development of a Sales Information System for a marketing firm. The system maintained customer records and monitored salesperson performance. Used I-SQL to create tables, indexes, rules and data types. Developed APT screens and used Apt procedures for developing data entry screens.
